Aww Chucks

Summer time is perfect for dresses.  I love dresses, especially this one.  I, for some reason, do not like dresses that are tight on my body.  This style is perfect for girls, like myself, that do not want that hip hugging dress.  You can wear this dress by itself, throw on a denim jacket and converses, or you can dress it up with a cute suede biker jacket and brown booties.  Every girl needs a dress like

this in her closet. The possibilities are endless.

I love a dress that can be worn multiple ways, especially if you are busy like myself with either work or school.  Wear it with converses during the day and change into your booties at night with it if you are a girl on the go.  Altar’d State has hundreds of these style dresses.  I am rather tall for a girl, but I love showing off my legs and this dress does that for me.  I really emphasis on the importance of feeling good about yourself and finding that one thing you love about yourself, whether it be your arms, legs, neck, check bones even, and just showing it off.  It took me a long time to realize  we all deserve self love and it is important mentally and physically to feel good about yourself, so if it’s a dress or a pair of shoes or even earrings that make you feel like Beyonce walking down the street, then girl say no more just flaunt your stuff!

Spring Is In the Air

Spring is by far one of my favorite seasons of the year.  It’s fresh.  The sun is warm.  The breeze is still cool.  Plus it is acceptable to wear those pretty long maxi dresses again!

This one that I am wearing is directly from Altar’d State.  It is by far one of my favorite stores to shop at.  I can guarantee you that you can find me walking out of that store with at least two shopping bags.  All of the items there are adorable, so ladies… and boyfriends… go get something from Altar’d State, you won’t regret it.

In addition to this maxi, there are some other long, pretty dresses I am going to link for you all to go check out.  For me, personally, it is extremely tough finding dresses that are long enough since I am 5’9, plus I love a good wedge heel, so it’s a struggle.  However, Fig Leaf is a store I have fallen in love with.  I will do a separate post just to praise them for all of the cute items they have, specifically the romper I will be sharing with you all, but they have long enough dresses for those tall girls, like myself.

The off the shoulder look is a huge trend this season, you see a lot of off the shoulder, flowy tops too, and I must say I am obsessed.  If you are one that thinks you cannot pull it off, much like myself, you are WRONG!  You most certainly can.  I was timid at first then quickly gave myself a little pep talk and said, “Tess you are one who takes risks with fashion and if you don’t try it out you will regret it.”  Well sure enough, I tried it out and loved it.  Plus, it is wedding season and you can easily wear this look to an outdoor wedding.

Hope this fashion trend makes it to your closet!

Flower Power for Men

Let’s get things straight here; who said men can’t wear floral prints to? Exactly, no one has said men can’t wear floral. A man who can pull off a bold print, such as a floral one or even a pink and purple plaid, is a man with a sense of style. This look specifically is understated, yet stands out with the peek-a-boo floral collar under this cream wool sweater. Not to mention the cuffed denim fitted jeans and oxford style leather lace-up boots. It is tastefully put together.

At my campus, there are quite a few men who dress similar to this and take pride in their fashion. I love a man who is not afraid to push the boundaries, especially when he is wearing something preppy and fresh paired with a killer pair of sunglasses. Sunglasses are those accessories that can really make or break an outfit in my opinion, but this look is the perfect example for how it does make the outfit come together.

Hats are another great way to accessorize one’s look. If this outfit did not have the gold framed, polarized blue shades I would say you can try piecing a navy or even dark brown with blue accent band, medium brim, fedora. Sometimes hats are not for everyone, but if your feeling like it’s a hat day then please, do not shy away from one! You can even try simple rings. It may sound odd, but guys can wear rings too! This man, specifically, is wearing a simple gold pinkie ring that pairs perfect with his gold-framed sunglasses. It’s a simplistic accessory that also helps tie the outfit together.

Gentlemen do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and wear bold prints, even jeans that expose your fabulous boots. Fashion is something a lot of people take pride in, it can make a person feel good knowing that they’re fashionable and people recognize them for it. So take my advice and next time you see something like a floral print, do what my friend here has done and pair it with a sweater, jeans, and boots and I promise girls will take notice of you.

Black & Gold

That’s the beauty of fashion. You can make it how you want, because at the end of the day, you have to love what you wear and own it.

For the look I have given you guys today, I am wearing a black and gold jumpsuit with black suede booties and a black with leather detail jacket paired with a dome shaped umbrella. When it rains it is always good to pair your outfit with a cute umbrella. Plus, clear umbrellas can be found at many different places.

As I break down this outfit, I must say I love jumpsuits, they’re every tall girls friend. They help elongate the legs and are super comfy. This jumpsuit can also be worn year round because it is sleeveless and can be worn in the summer months. The specific jumpsuit I am wearing in this image is actually from Old Navy, but I tagged one that is similar to it from Revolve. Now to the shoes.

Suede is a huge trend this season, so these black suede booties are a hit, and so reasonable too. The specific ones I am wearing are from Aldos, but I have tagged a pair of Steve Madden booties that are just as amazing. They can go with jeans, or you can dress them up like I did.

Since it is winter, this black leather patched jacket helps dress up the jumpsuit and is perfect for a girl’s night out on the town.  I don’t shy away from mix matching metals.  The jumpsuit may have gold in it, but the buttons on the jacket may be silver, you can tie the metals together through jewelry and the overall outfit will still look fierce.

Blue Prints

Bold prints are fun to wear, but let’s face it, it does take time to get used to. My advice to you is, BE BOLD! You can find the prettiest prints on anything. It can be a scarf, a shirt, a pair of pants, or even a dress. They can be scary to approach, but I promise you when you put them on and wear them out in public, you’re going to get compliments. However, it is all about finding the pattern that works best for you.

This specific print gives more of a boho chic vibe. I find these kinds of dresses in boutiques, that are reasonably priced, and not your typical name brand store. My wardrobe is a mix between your name brand stores, which will be featured along the way of my page, and the other half of my wardrobe is from cute boutiques. Altar’d State is a darling little store that sells many different clothes from many different companies, which is where this dress and lace slip came from.

Notice how I slipped that in there, no pun intended, but this dress could have been worn by itself, however, the lace detail adds a little extra to the dress. You may be thinking, lace and bold prints OMG this is too much! For some it may, but jump out of your comfort zone and be BOLD!

All of the pieces that you will find on my page are all affordable. Something I love to tell people, “you can have champagne taste, but you can find that outfit and recreate it on a beer budget.”
